May 24, 1927: “the Philbrooks called”

Tuesday 24th
Rained all night + very threatening this morning. This is the fourth week of rainy weather. Edith is hurrying with her cards. Mrs. Bennett came in to borrow an Atlas. She got it. Edith + Clarence went to a “movie” yesterday instead of Watertown which was the place they started for. It rained heavily today at noon. Will we ever have any more pleasant weather? While I was doing the dishes this evening Mrs. Baldwin came in, Audrea finished the dishes + I went in + sat down. It was not long before the Philbrooks called. Mr. + Mrs. with Mrs. Ernest Philbrook. Don’t enjoy them very much. Had no reading + Edith  + Audrea went to bed soon after Clarence went to work.
