April 17, 1927: “absorbed in herself”

Sunday the seventeenth
A beautiful day. We rode down to Salem the first time I have been there since Mattie’s passing on. A very different place to visit. Lucy is no such hostess as her mother too much absorbed in herself things are breaking up, it may be my turn next. There’s only Fred Parker + Fred Mac. Bessie + myself left now. I got thru the day without breaking down + quite enjoyed the ride home in the moonlight. Lucy gave Edith one of her mother’s dresses, the one she liked best. I was very glad she got it for the poor child had nothing.

On this day in history: April 17, 1927 (Sunday)

Japan’s Prime Minister Wakatsuki Reijirō and his cabinet resigned, and were succeeded by General Tanaka Giichi, leader of the Rikken Seiyūkai Party.[34]

Yugoslavia‘s Prime Minister Nikola Uzunović resigned and was replaced by Velimir Vukićević.[35]
