March 15, 1927: “what utter fools girls are”

Tuesday the fifteenth
Pleasant day. nothing more thrilling happened than Ramona + her mother bringing the new baby over for my to see. Very cute of course but I’m glad I have not got one to take care of. What utter fools girls are. Heaven only knows what Audrea will do.

NOTES + EXPLANATIONS

Haha… well I know what Audrey will do, but I have the advantage of hindsight. Ramona, remember, is of the Baldwin family. Her new baby is Marilyn Virginia Waite.

On this day in history: March 15, 1927 (Tuesday)

Shōwa financial crisis: In Tokyo, the large Watanabe Bank failed a day after Finance Minister Naoharu Kataoka mistakenly said in a speech that the struggling bank had “at last collapsed” and depositors made a bank run, withdrawing their cash. Two other banks collapsed by the end of the week and by March 24, twelve banks had crashed and more would follow.
