February 24, 1927: “Dr Myron Cutler was killed”

Thursday the twenty fourth.
Cloudy + some rain, a very depressing day Audrea very lonesome. Did a little mending + got thro’ the day someway, feeling very nervous + bed. Amozelle called for Ruth but she had gone out with Audrea. Guess she did not have a very pleasant time so did not stay long. Edith did not appear at all. We learned that Dr Myron Cutler was killed by his car being hit by a train on a grade crossing. I happened on a tuesday + he lived untill thursday afternoon. The funeral will be Sunday at two o’clock.

Well, that sounds like a horrible accident. I tried to find a newspaper article on it, but there’s nothing with any more explanation. Just for context, at this time in American history there were over 30,000 automobile accidents per year, and around 1500 specifically between cars and trains.
