February 21, 1927: “been feeling fine for me”

Monday the twenty first
The family all went into the Boston this morning to get Audrea a new dress to wear to a birthday party on Wednesday. Did not get home untill after six o’clock. Brought a pink crepe de chine with stocking to match + worn over a pink silk slip. Very pretty. Hope she dont take cold. The Baldwins came over in the evening, had a pleasant time. been feeling fine for me.

NOTES + EXPLANATIONS

I have to laugh at “been feeling fine” with addition of “for me”. She cracks me up.

So I wonder if the birthday party is her own and that’s what warrants the new dress… or perhaps a joint party with other February birthdays from school. They are on vacation this week, remember. Time to party.

Crêpe de chine, by the way, is a fabric – “A fine, lightweight silk, cotton, or worsted, with a plain weave and crêpe-twist filling.” (source: Wiki)
