February 19, 1927: “eleven candles”

Saturday the nineteenth
A great snow storm. the biggest of the season Audrea celebrated her birthday. Got a pair of roller skates + a necklace + the Lester girls came down in the afternoon. The storm abated so that they all went down + got ice cream + she had a birthday cake with eleven candles.

Oh, good, Audrey did get her birthday celebration after all.

I can’t really find any reference to the “great snow storm”, and it looks like the weather data indicates that it actually snowed more the next day, Sunday. BUT… perhaps it’s her flare for the dramatic!

“The Lester girls”, remember, are her cousins, Emma and Ruth. More on that on the Lester Cousins page.  It seems like they pretty much grew up together, which makes it all the more odd that Audrey always said she had no family. I wonder why they didn’t stay in touch as adults.

Just for your enjoyment, a pair of roller skates in 1927 would have looked like these:
