February 28, 1927: “keep her at home”

A beautiful day + Audrea starts school again. I begrudge her to the school. Would like to keep her at home + away from bad influences. Clarence has a bad cold, but they have gone to the “movies” hope Edith gets cheered up.

February 27, 1927: “life is hard”

Sunday the twenty seventh
A lovely day but colder. They have all gone to Salem to try + comfort Lu. Her father goes to housekeeping on tuesday – pretty hard for poor Lucy. They have come home feeling greatly depressed. almost a bad as the day of the funeral. Life is hard.

February 26, 1927: “a boy is such a noisy creature”

Saturday the twenty sixth
Cloudy + windy Edith went out in the car + did her shopping. Brought home new medicine, have taken some + think its going to help me, I pray that it may. I dont want to die because I think I’m needed here some new people moved into the Ell a man + his wife + a little boy. Awfully sorry a boy is such a noisy creature. Read aloud + went to bed feeling better.

February 25, 1927: “I’m not going to live long”

Friday the twenty fifth
A terrible day + it rained all night too dark to see to read or sew. Was glad when it came time to turn on the light read David Copperfield + the papers + went to bed. fee very badly. some times think I’m not going to live long.

February 24, 1927: “Dr Myron Cutler was killed”

Thursday the twenty fourth.
Cloudy + some rain, a very depressing day Audrea very lonesome. Did a little mending + got thro’ the day someway, feeling very nervous + bed. Amozelle called for Ruth but she had gone out with Audrea. Guess she did not have a very pleasant time so did not stay long. Edith did not appear at all. We learned that Dr Myron Cutler was killed by his car being hit by a train on a grade crossing. I happened on a tuesday + he lived untill thursday afternoon. The funeral will be Sunday at two o’clock.
